What a performance! This and similar phrases resonated around Dagenham & Redbridge F.C. on the afternoon of Tuesday 3rd December at the Barking & Dagenham International Day of Disabled People celebratory event.
The theme of this year’s event was 'performance', and Robert put on a wonderful one as always, delivering a talk about disabled performers.
The main performer he talked about was Dudley Moore, who some may remember was an actor and musician who grew up in Barking & Dagenham, but other celebrities also mentioned were the singer-songwriter Jessie J from Redbridge, the Paralympic swimmer Brock Whiston from Havering, the actor David Rappaport who lived in Redbridge and the wrestler Will Ospreay, who was born in Havering. Robert interspersed his presentation as always with photos and video clips of each performer, and even an impromptu impression of Dudley Moore in the “One Legged Tarzan” sketch, which involved hopping around on one leg and balancing his leg on a chair.
