Trustees week is Monday 4th to Friday 8th November 2024. It is a time for the voluntary and community sector to come together to celebrate the achievements of trustees across the UK.
The positive impact trustees make is invaluable. It’s a chance to say thank you for the time, commitment and effort Trustees bring to charities to help them thrive. Trustees are adults who collectively make decisions on behalf of a charity. They are elected or appointed to the position, and in most cases are volunteers.
They should be able to demonstrate values such as honesty and integrity and we are blessed at Sycamore Trust UK to have a wonderful group of trustees who demonstrate these values, among many others.
As it is Trustees Week, it is perhaps an appropriate time to thank one particular lady who stood down at our AGM a fortnight ago. Nyomi Thompson has been a valued member of our board of trustees at Sycamore Trust UK since October 2016, but her personal committments meant that she had less time to offer and as a result, she was no longer able to continue. .
After her withdrawl from the committee, she said; "I was interested in joining the board as the mission of the charity was close to home. I had seen the detrimental effect of limited/no support being provided to children with learning difficulties and was keen to support an organisation striving to provide better outcomes for those in need. It has been a pleasure to follow the success stories of innovative initiatives over the years including the SWAP project and the autism ambassadors. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with the dedicated team as well as meeting the individuals who benefit from the services that Sycamore Trust provides. It has been an incredibly fulfilling and rewarding responsibility."
