Young people from our arts project took centre stage yesterday in Central London at the Young Creators Showcase event. Since April, we've been running weekly art groups thanks to the support of our friends at London Youth, which has been encouraging groups in the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham and Hackney to introduce young people to the arts.
At the showcase event in Liverpool Street yesterday, all the various groups came together to demonstrate what they had achieved over the past four months and the level of creativity and ability was outstanding.
From animation to poetry and from dance to fashion, the Young Creators event demonstrated just how many good ideas are out there and how much can be learned and enjoyed from art and creativity. Roughly halfway through the event, it was the turn of our young people to take to the stage and demonstrate what they had learned and achieved with their printing project, which helped to create things like t-shirts and tote bags. Project leader Matt introduced our particuipants before handing over to Aminah, who summarise what we'd learned and how much we'd enjoyed the project.
Our group topped off their demonstration with a short video summarising what they've achieved. It was a great end to the programme and wonderful to be in the room with so many talented young people from East London. We're very grateful to London Youth and the Young Creators project for providing us with the resources and we look forward to continuing with our artistic endeavours!
