It may have been almost a month since our annual Stubbers visit but we're still looking back over a wonderful week. For one week each year, we run an outdoor camp at the Stubbers adventure centre in Essex and the 2018 gathering was a resounding success. Over 30 young people attended over the five day period, along with plenty of staff and volunteers and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Some of the youngsters stayed over in the purpose built accomodation and we organised evening activities fior them as well, but the highlights of the week were all from the daytime activities as we undertook a wide range of tasks, ranging from climbing and archery, to plenty of activities on the lake.
There are far too many photographs to post from a terrific week, but here are a selection that indicates just what a great time was had by all. We're already looking forward to next year, but we need a rest first!
There were so many people to thank, it's impossible to list them all, but we'd especially like to mention our volunteers, some of whom gave up their time to help. It's a long week if you do all five days and we're very fortunate to have such a dedicated group of people who were there every day, rain or shine!
Of course, it goes without saying that it's a great deal more fun in the warm weather that was plentiful throughout this summer. Mind you, that didn't stop some of the young people from getting involved in the water activities!
Those of us with a bit more sense decided they were better of on dry land! There was still a huge range of activities for the youngsters to take part in. Check out our videos at https://bit.ly/2oVcImB
Judging by the reaction of all the young people, as well as the staff and volunteers, a great time was had by all - we're already planning for Stubbers 2019, so keep a look out on our website and in the newsletter for further information. Remember, to take part in Stubbers, you need to be a member, so please contact us on 020 8517 9317 or at enquiries@sycamoretrust.org.uk for membership information. See you all in 2019!
