Everyone at Sycamore Trust UK was saddened to hear that Sir Jack Petchey CBE passed away last week. Sir Jack has made a name for himself across east London and beyond after leading a charity dedicated to supporting youth projects in London and Essex and many young people at Sycamore Trust have received Jack Petchey awards over the years.
The Jack Petchey Foundation was established as a charity in 1999, supporting young people in endeavours including public speaking, dance, sport and music. To date, his charity has invested over £170 million in grants to youth projects.
Sir Jack Petchey CBE was one of the UK’s most successful businessmen, with entrepreneurial ventures spanning travel, property and investments. But he is perhaps best known by many for his commitment to supporting youth projects, predominantly across London and Essex, through the trust that bears his name, the Jack Petchey Foundation. His keen interest in local sports, business and people led to him being knighted in 2016. He is survived by his wife Lady Frances Petchey, his daughters Jackie, Susan and Amanda and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
