We had a brilliant afternoon and evening a week ago as guests of the Raiders Ice Hockey Club.
The Raiders nominated Sycamore Trust UK as their chosen charity for the 23/24 season, and as part of their support of Sycamore, we were able to attend their game against Solway Sharks on Sunday 3rd March at the Sapphire Ice and Leisure Centre in Romford.
We took a group of around two dozen staff, volunteers and young people along to watch the match against Solway, which turned out to be a thriller, with the Raiders eventually recording a resounding 7-3 victory. It was especailly great to see the Raiders wearing their smart warm up shirts adorned with the Sycamore Trust UK logo.
There was yet more hospitality shown to us as the Raiders donated the takings from their 50/50 draw on the night, which was over £600, and we also raised over £150 from the generosity of the Raiders fans who threw their loose change into our buckets during the interval.
If that wasn't enough, we also got our photo taken on the ice after the match. Thanks to everyone at Raiders IHC for making us so welcome - we had a terrific evening!
