We are delighted to share details of our brand new project, thanks to the support of the National Lottery Community Fund. We are setting up a personal assistant register for the autistic communities of Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge.
Starting this month, we are creating a brokerage service for PA’s, with the aim of enabling families in the three boroughs to access support. We know that there is a huge demand for support amongst the autistic community, so we are creating a directory of personal assistants that we’ll be able to share with families.
If you have a passion for supporting children or adults on the autistic spectrum, then you might be just who we’re looking for. Some families need extra support caring for their autistic family member, and having a trustworthy person to help can make all the difference. If you have any experience supporting autistic families, then we’d like to hear from you.
PA's will be invited to enhance their understanding with our three free workshops
- Introduction to autism
- Sensory workshop
- Introduction to safeguarding
We’ll create a register and make your details available to the autistic community in Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. Families can be assured that once we have found the PA’s, we will make sure they meet the criteria required to work with vulnerable children, such as DBS checks and experience. Once we’ve established that they are suitable for the role, we’ll make their details available to those families in B&D, Havering and Redbridge who contact us.
