Our brand-new short breaks service in the London Borough of Redbridge is set to launch in November. Details of the new service are emerging, with a brand-new project starting before Christmas to support Redbridge families.
For the first time, we will be able to run services in the Redbridge area, thus enabling families to get the support they need on their doorstep. We are offering a two-pronged approach, starting with a Life Skills club for Autistic young people aged 10-17, living in the London Borough of Redbridge which will operate once a week during term times on weekday evenings. Each group will be up to three hours long with a maximum of 15 young people at each session. The group will focus on important life skills, as we aim to build confidence, improve self-esteem, and develop those all important social and communications skills, in a fun and friendly environment.
Alongside the Life Skills club, we will provide support and guidance for parents & carers of Autistic individuals in the London Borough of Redbridge, to ensure that parents & carers have access to either group or one-to-one support. This support and guidance will also be available to any parents and carers of Autistic children who live in Redbridge, regardless of whether or not their young people attend the youth club. Parents will have the opportunity to discuss any issues their young person is having, and if parents need more in-depth support, they will have the opportunity to book a longer one-to-one session with a member of the family support team.
Any Redbridge resident who would like more information about the youth club should email activities@sycamoretrust.org.uk and anyone wishing to find out more about the parent support groups can do so by emailing familyservices@sycamoretrust.org.uk
