We had a brilliant afternoon on Sunday with our very first visit to the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre in Romford to see the Everyone Active Raiders in action for the first time.
The Raiders Ice Hockey Club have selected Sycamore Trust UK as their Charity of the Year so we were keen to get along and see the team in action.
The Raiders compete in the Planet Ice National League, an eleven-team division with teams as far away as Bristol in the west, Leeds in the north and Solway in Scotland. We decided that we would go along to the fixture against Bristol Pitbulls on Sunday to cheer on the team and we're really glad we did as the Raiders recorded a handsome victory.
For many of our group it was their first ever ice-hockey match so we were thrilled to see the home team win 12-4 and complete a weekend double over Bristol, having won the away fixture 7-4 on Saturday.
The Sycamore Trust UK logo is on the sleeve of the Raiders home and away shirts, but on Sunday, they wore their black warm up shirt, with our logo on the front. Whenever the team have worn the black shirt this season, they have won, and we were delighted to see that sequence continue. Our young adults had a great afternoon, and we're looking forward to our next visit in the spring.
There are matches throughout the Christmas period if you'd like to see the team in action. For more information, go to https://raidersicehockey.com/
