Our Havering Adult Autism Service offers a variety of support to autistic adults living in the borough. The services run from the Havering Autism Hub in Laurie Walk, Liberty Shopping Centre, Romford, close to the entrance to Romford Market and the service is funded by London Borough of Havering.
The services we offer adults include advice on employment support, benefits, housing and other issues and challenges in their day-to-day lives. We also facilitate a Steering Group whose members worked closely with the council and other partners to develop the Havering Autism Strategy and with whom the council consulted before releasing the recent Havering Autism Survey.
Another popular service is the Peer Group; a social group for autistic adults living in Havering that meets at Havering Autism Hub once a month on a Friday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm. We also facilitate Peer Group activities in the community and the members who attended the April meeting enjoyed lunch together at Café Fino in Romford Market. Pictured are some of those Peer Group members and Matt who manages the Havering Adult Autism Service.
The Peer Group has proved so popular we decided to establish a second group in March and the membership of that group is steadily growing. Peer Group isn’t a drop-in service, membership is by invitation so if you are an autistic adult living in Havering and would like to express an interest in becoming a Peer Group member, please email us at autismhub@sycamoretrust.org.uk
