The European Ryder Cup victory in Rome may have stolen the sporting headlines this Sunday, but it wasn't the only big golf event that took place over the weekend.
The second annual Sycamore Trust golf day took place at the Stapleford Abbots Golf Club in Havering on Friday and it was a wonderful day. Thirteen teams took part, and after the event, settled down in the sunshine for a late lunch on the patio outside the clubhouse.
We were blessed with glorious weather as the putting and chipping competitions began at 9am and it was very warm when the first fourball tee'd off just after 10,30am.
Once everyone had returned to the club house around 4,30pm, we tallied up the scores and we were able to announce Tony Dow as the winner, with a score of 45 points, just ahead of Neil Parker in second place and Barry Edwards in third.
Our top three! (l-r) Neil Parker (2nd) Tony Dow (1st) & Barry Edwards (3rd)
There were also prizes for the longest drive, sponsored by BPS Building Services and nearest the pin. We even had a wooden spoon for the golfer who finished at the bottom of the pile!
After handing out the prizes, we held a raffle in aid of the Sycamore Trust with some terrific prizes including a 40" smart TV! Altogether, we raised a tidy four figure sum towards our vital services and everyone who played really enjoyed the day and expressed a desire to come back again next year.

In addition, to all thos epeople who kindly donated raffle prizes, including
Last but not least, huge thanks to Paul & Jemma Taylor for everything they did to make the day such a success. Looking forward to next year already!
