We enjoyed a wonderful day out on Saturday with a visit to Dagenham & Redbridge FC for their match against Wealdstone. A group of staff and young people went along to the National League Premier division match at Victoria Road last Saturday to cheer on the Daggers and we saw plenty of goals!
We were able to contribute to the matchday atmosphere, as prior to the kick off, our young people were the flag bearers for the day. This involved walking around the pitch before the match, before arriving at the players tunnel, where we formed the guard of honour as the players and match officials emerged from the tunnel. We even met some of the Daggers squad before the game!

Official duties over, we took our seats in the main stand and were treated to a dominant display from the home team. The Daggers took an early lead when Harry Phipps headed home after five minutes and a superb free kick from Junior Morais put the home team in complete control before half time. Josh Walker added a superb third in the second half, running the length of the pitch to score and Daggers wrapped up the win with a late penalty from Morais. Even a stoppage time consolation from Wealdstone failed to spoil the day for our young people, many of whom were attending a live football match for the very first time.
Daggers fourth goal was a penalty from Junior Morais
We had a wonderful day, and were made very welcome by all the Dagenham & Redbridge staff. Thanks to everyone at Dagenham & Redbridge FC for their hospitality and thanks again to the Jack Petchey Foundation, who once again enabled this activity with their incredible support.
