Gareth's going for Gold!
We now have a group of five taking part in the Vitality 10,000m later this year. Our team was recently completed by Gareth Lloyd, a member of our peer group based in the Autism Hub in Romford.
Three people took part in the event last year and we're hoping that our team of five can beat the 2022 fund-raising total. The race takes place on Sunday 24th September 2023. It's a challenging distance that takes in many of London's landmarks, including Trafalgar Square, St Pauls Cathedral and Big Ben, before finishing in front of Buckingham Palace.
Gareth is raising money for Sycamore Trust
Gareth joins a team that comprises several people with a personal connection to Sycamore Trust and the work that we do. Paul Taylor has been a participant in the SWAP programme along with daughter Olivia - he's running with his brother Colin. Trevor Hazell is a local boy who was born within a stone's throw of our Dagenham premises and the team is completed by our marketing manager Steve Dixon. Both Trevor and Steve ran on our behalf last year.

Our team are aiming to raise as much money as possible to go towards the vital services we provide to the Autistic community in Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We were delighted to welcome Gareth along to join us. Not only is he a service user, but he brings down the average age of our quintet, with at least two runners in the veteran category!
Gareth said; "As an Autistic person, the Sycamore Trust has dramatically improved my quality of life. I've met lots of inspiring Autistic people though their groups, and I have made new friends. I'm proud to be joining their team taking part in the Vitality 10k."
It goes without saying that we are hoping to raise as much as we possibly can to support the important work that we do. Times are hard at present, so we very much appreciate any contributions towards our total, however large or small.
