Over the summer, we've established a really positive relationship with the Diversity & Inclusion team at c2c, our local rail operator. c2c provides commuter services from its London Fenchurch Street terminus to parts of East London and south Essex along the London, Tilbury and Southend line and they were keen to know more about the services provided by Sycamore Trust and neuro-diversity in general.
After some really positive discussions, we decided to shoot a short film about how families with a neuro-diverse member might travel on the rail network, whilst at the same time showcasing our Autism Awareness training. We chose a pleasant day at the beginning of September for a group of young people, parents, and Sycamore staff to visit Leigh-on-Sea with c2c whilst creating a video that shows the journey experience for families with autism.
The film demonstrates some of the challenges faced by parents, children and young people when traveling on p7ublic transport, whilst at the same time highlighting the positive steps c2c have been taking to make the experience more welcoming for the autistic community.
We're very pleased with the outcome, and you can see the film by clicking the link here; https://railuk.com/travel/trenitalia-c2c-and-the-sycamore-trust-collaborate-on-autism-awareness/
