Our fourth and final Summer of Sport session look place at Castle Green, Dagenham on Thursday 17 August and fourteen young people joined us for two hours of multi-sports. This week Bradley Donovan from Essex Cricket returned to run some cricket-themed games and the young people enjoyed practising their bowling and bat & ball skills.
As well as the focus on indoor cricket, the session included the usual mix of sports, including badminton, basketball, tennis, table tennis, dodgeball and a summer-themed version of volleyball played with a beachball.
In previous posts we have thanked our sports coaches, staff and volunteers, but today we want to thank the most important people of all, the twenty-two young people who joined us over the course of the four sessions. The energy, enthusiasm and fun they brought to every session was remarkable and they encouraged and supported each other along the way. A massive thank you to all of them. We are really pleased the sessions have been popular and we hope to run similar sessions during school holidays in the future.
Finally, thank you to Sport England whose funding made our Summer of Sport 2023 project possible. I f you would like to find out more about Sport England and the great community work that they support, you can find their website at https://www.sportengland.org/
