We were delighted to be invited to Monteagle Primary School recently as part of their activities during Autism Acceptance Week. Our Autism Ambassadors, Robert, Joseph and Steve visited Monteagle to speak to students, staff and teachers about Autism and the support given by Sycamore Trust to the local Autistic community.
So many children attended that wen had to split the presentation into tow parts, with over 100 young people and their teachers attending each session. As is often the case, at the end of the presentations, the children demonstrated how much interest they had shown in our presentation, by asking thoughtful and intuitive questions.
But that wasn't the end of the Autism Acceptance Week activities for Monteagle Primary. Last year, they raised over £400 for Sycamore by taking part in #daretobedifferent and this year they doubled that total, raising almost £850!
Monteagle is a wonderful school, just a few minutes walk from our premises in Dagenham. They have the largest ARP in the Barking & Dagenham borough, supporting over 50 children daily. Staff work with those families every day and do what they can, but outside of school hours or holidays, families may feel alone or lost. This is where the Sycamore Trust can step in and support those families and that is why Monteagle chose to support us in such a meaningful way.
We really enjoyed our visit and we'd like to thank all the young people, teachers, staff and parents for their fund raising efforts on our behalf. Their Just Giving page is still open if you'd like to donate. Click here for details; https://www.justgiving.com/page/monteagle-dare-to-be-different-sycamore-trust-fundraising
