We had a very busy day on Friday as we held three separate activities as part of our Mayor's Community Weekend.
Earlier this year, we successfully bd for a share of money set aside by the Mayor's office to provide a 'Community Weekend' where around 200 events went ahead, bringing people together to celebrate connection, creativity, and community spirit across our city.
We decided to offer an Autism Support Group on Friday morning for residents of the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and that was a very good start to proceedings, with over a dozen people attending. After a quick break, we were ready for our afternoon activity, which was Autism Awareness training to our invited audience. As ever, it went down very well and those who attended were particularly fascinated by the stories of lived experience from our trainers.

Once that was over, we had about half an hour to prpare for the evening activity, which was a games night for members of our various youth clubs, and they came and played pool, tried some arts and crafts, some lego building and the very popular mobile phones quizzes, which were very good fun, if a bit complicated!
So, altogether, a very busy day, but a very successful one. Thanks to everyone who took part, and thanks to the Mayor's Community Weekend for their support!
