Sycamore Trust UK Chief Executive Chris Gillbanks has announced that she plans to retire at the end of the year.
Chris has been CEO of the charity since 2003, when it was known as PACT (Parents of Autistic Children Together) and has guided the organisation through a challenging period, including the merger with Barking & Dagenham Mencap in 2011, the re-branding to Sycamore in 2014 and the recent coronavirus pandemic.
After two decades in the role, Chris has decided to retire and the charity will begin it’s search for a replacement, to be in post by the end of 2023. On announcing her plans, Chris said, “I will not be retiring until we have found a suitable replacement and completed a handover. After 20 years in the role, I will miss all our staff and all our families, but I feel it is time to hand over the reins to someone younger.”
