A day at the Zoo, thanks to Sue!

Some of our youth group members recently enjoyed a fantastic day out at Colchester Zoo thanks to the Jack Petchey Foundation.

Back in the summer we nominated Sue Cornell for a Jack Petchey Leader Award and applied for a linked grant to take 12 young people on a day trip to the zoo. We nominated Sue in recognition of her hitting the milestone of 10 years’ service with Sycamore Trust in 2023.

During that time, Sue has led several youth groups for us, and she also coordinated our youth service from the office for several years. She continues to lead our social groups for men aged 18 to 30-years. Suffice to say, our nomination was accepted, and Sue will receive her Leader Award at our Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Award ceremony in December.

The icing on the cake was receiving the funds to give 12 of our young people a brilliant experience at the zoo. Lots of fun was had, new friendships were forged, and we saw hundreds of animals, large and small!

Thank you to the Jack Petchey Foundation for making the day trip possible, and to all the young people who contributed to a brilliant day!
